Patents & Inventions
Patented wellness products created to solve real problems — born from pain, engineered with precision, and built for real homes.
Revolutionary Patents
Only 13% of patents worldwide are granted to women, and 85% of patents are never commercialized. Eileen Durfee has been granted ten patents in the USA and six internationally — and nearly all of them have become real products people use every day.
Her inventions were not created as abstract ideas. They came from real problems: pain, poor posture, chemical sensitivity, environmental burden, poor indoor air, and the need for practical tools people could actually use at home.
Her background as a former nuclear power quality professional shaped how she invents. In nuclear quality work, assumptions are not enough — systems must be evaluated, problems traced, designs tested. When Eileen saw gaps in the marketplace, she asked: What problem is not being solved? What design would support better function? Can this idea become a protected invention and a real product?
All patents are publicly listed — see Eileen Durfee’s patent portfolio on Justia.
Four Principles Behind Every Invention
The Problem Comes First
The invention process begins with a problem, not a product. The goal is never to invent for the sake of inventing — it is to solve a real problem in a better way.
The Body Is a System
No invention is an isolated gadget. Each one belongs to the larger Eileen Durfee Method™ — heat, air, water, posture, and recovery working together.
Design Must Be Practical
An invention only matters if people can actually use it — designed for real homes, real bodies, and real routines.
Protection Shows Follow-Through
A patent means the idea was developed, described, filed, and survived examination — then carried into the marketplace.

Portable Radiant Exercise & Sauna Tent
The invention behind Sauna Fix®: an enclosed phototherapeutic environment whose size and shape adjust to the user’s position — sitting, standing, or lying down. Adjustable scaffolding, a thermally insulative cover, and radiant heat lamps create a full home sauna that supports sweating, stretching, and exercise without a built-in sauna room.
Read the patent abstract
A modular portable exercise and sauna tent is an apparatus that provides an enclosed phototherapeutic environment for a user. The size and shape of the apparatus is adjustable depending on the position of the user within the apparatus. The apparatus includes a scaffolding, a thermally insulative cover, and at least one heating lamp. The thermally insulative cover further includes a first panel, a second panel, and an overlay panel. The scaffolding defines an area of heat around the user, and further includes a first base frame, a second base frame, and a plurality of lateral posts, each adjustable in length. The apparatus preferably includes a flooring layer that provides comfort and protection for the user against the ground.
System for Transporting a Sauna Device
Powerful heat is only useful if it fits into real life. This system stores, protects, and transports the infrared sauna lamp in a sealable carrying bag with dedicated pouches — making the entire sauna portable enough for travel, hotel rooms, and small homes.
Read the patent abstract
A system for transporting a sauna device is used for storing and transporting an infrared sauna lamp. The system includes an infrared sauna lamp and a sealable carrying bag. The infrared sauna lamp emits heat and light used for therapeutic purposes. The sealable carrying bag includes a flexible receptacle, a lid, a first handle and a second handle. A first pouch, a second pouch, and a third pouch are placed within the flexible receptacle to carry various items associated with the infrared sauna lamp.

Plasma Air Purifier — Breathe Safe®
Born from Eileen’s focus on indoor air, oxygen, and negative ions. The apparatus simultaneously produces positive and negative ions to address bacteria, viruses, and odors in the surrounding air — compact enough to travel anywhere the breathing environment needs support.
Read the patent abstract
The plasma air purifier is an apparatus that simultaneously produces positive ions and negative ions in order to eliminate bacteria, viruses and odors in the air of the surrounding environment. The apparatus includes a housing, a discharge plate, a discharge needle array, a microcontroller, and a power supply. The housing encloses the discharge needle array, the microcontroller, and the power supply, allowing the apparatus to be easily incorporated into a variety of environments and easily transported. The discharge plate produces negative ions, and the discharge needle array produces positive ions.
Cushioning Posterior Fulcrum Back Shaper
The patent behind the Neck Shaper Kit and back shaper system. It supports and guides the back and neck through stretches and exercises — a grooved channel positions the spine while sacrum- and pelvis-supporting depressions encourage proper form, helping the body work on its natural curves at home.
Read the patent abstract
A cushioning posterior fulcrum back shaper is an apparatus that supports and guides the back and neck of a user. The apparatus encourages proper form throughout stretches and exercises. It includes a back shaper that supports the arch of the back, and a neck shaper which supports the spine and consequently the neck. The first grooved channel positions and guides the spine. The back shaper includes a semicircular prismatic body, a sacrum-supporting depression, and a pelvis-supporting depression. The neck shaper includes an elongated body rotatably mounted to the semicircular prismatic body with first and second interlocking arms.

Back Trac — The Back Roller That Lets Joints Stretch
Each vertebra has four joint surfaces — a total of 364 joints in the spine connecting vertebrae, discs, ribs, sacrum, and skull. The Back Trac is squishy so it does not crunch the spinous process: lying on it and rolling back and forth applies your own body weight to stretch the intervertebral joints, hydrate spinal discs, and encourage realignment. Most people hear their vertebrae pop, then stand up feeling taller and straighter.
Back & Neck Roll Spinal Braces
Standard foam rolls promote myofascial release — Eileen’s patented rolls do something different: they act like a spinal support brace. A specialized groove guides the lumbar and cervical vertebrae, supporting the transverse process while letting the spinous float. Lie over the rolls and relax while tight muscles release and the vertebrae settle into a healthier curvature.
Picture a locomotive moving down the train track, guided in the correct direction. Shape is critical — you can never change where muscles attach to bone, so the rolls provide the passive guidance the spine needs to remold its shape. Back Shaper rolls come in five diameters and three densities (12″ long); Neck Shaper rolls in five diameters and three densities (7″ long).

Weighted Target Applicator
Corrective exercise needs feedback. This apparatus applies weight directly to specific parts of the body — chest, hip, or face-conforming pads on a structural base with a barbell mount — giving targeted mechanical input for posture and spinal fitness work.
Read the patent abstract
A weighted target applicator is an apparatus that applies weight directly to specific parts of the body of a user. The apparatus includes at least one pad, a setting, a structural base, and a barbell mount. In a first and second embodiment, the structural base is rotatably connected to the setting, with pads conforming to the chest and hip respectively. In a third embodiment, the structural base is fixed to the setting, with a first and second pad shaped to receive the face of the user.
Water Container with an Ozone Diffuser
The design challenge was never just adding ozone to water — it was controlling how ozone is introduced, evenly distributed through porous tubes, and safely degassed before any excess reaches the surrounding air. Real engineering around safe ozone handling for home water wellness.
Read the patent abstract
A water container with an ozone diffuser is an apparatus used to diffuse ozone gas into water that is either flowing through or retained by the apparatus. It includes an aeration chamber, an ozone generator coupler, a distribution hub, a plurality of porous tubes, and a degassing unit. The distribution hub receives ozone gas and distributes it amongst the porous tubes, which insert it evenly into the retained water. The degassing unit neutralizes the excess ozone before exhausting it into the apparatus’s surroundings.

Water Sterilization System with Multipurpose Degasser
One of Eileen’s most engineering-heavy inventions: a vortex mixing cylinder forms an ozone-saturated water mixture while a deionization system strips ozone particles from gases before they’re expelled. She didn’t stop at devices for the body — she engineered the environmental systems around it.
Read the patent abstract
A sterilization system with multipurpose degasser has a vortex mixing cylinder, an endcap, and a deionization system. The mixing chamber is designed to facilitate the formation of an ozone-saturated ozone-water mixture. The deionization system is an electrical filter that removes ozone particles from the air within the mixing chamber, mounted between the vortex mixing cylinder and the endcap, so gases must pass through it prior to being expelled.
A Consistent Pattern of Problem Solving
Eileen’s inventions repeatedly focus on the same central themes: better posture, better spinal support, better home sauna routines, better indoor air, better water handling, and better ways to apply wellness principles practically at home.
